PRAYER FOR THOSE IN MILITARY SERVICE PAST AND PRESENT

(From The United Methodist Book of Worship)

Righteous God, you rule the nations. Guard the brave men and women, past and present, in military service. Give them compassion for those who confront them as enemies. Keep our children from hate that hardens, or from scorekeeping with human lives. Though for a season they were or must be people of war, let them live for peace, as eager for agreement as for victory. Encourage them as they encourage one another, and never let hard duty separate them from loyalty to your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

WELCOME REV. MARK BECKER

Rev. Mark Becker was ordained an elder in full connection in the Florida Conference in 2004. He became the sixth president of the Foundation in 2015, after serving on the Foundation’s board for seven years, including two years as chairperson. Before joining the staff, he served in local church appointments for 14 years, most recently as senior pastor at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Tallahassee. Prior to his call to ministry, Rev. Becker served as a nuclear trained officer on a nuclear submarine and a financial analyst with IBM. He has a Bachelor of Science from the United States Navy Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, an MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a Master of Divinity from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
