Communications and Public Relations @ South Shore

Purpose

  • To effectively communicate the message of Jesus Christ. 

  • To warmly extend invitation for the culturally diverse South Shore community to engage with our faith community in loving God and neighbor.

Strategies

The South Shore UMC Communications and Public Relations Team will serve as the news gathering and distribution point for the Church. We will inform, connect, and engage in news and happenings relevant to the mission and ministry of the Church. We are committed to provide:

  • Communications that share a variety of ministry events, needs, activities, and opportunities that is packaged for presentation to the congregation and the community. 

  • Deliver content periodically, telling the story of SSUMC. 

  • Marketing for new initiatives, with a focus on public relations to those outside of our church, while managing the Church's image and brand. 

  • Interpret the life and work of SSUMC to the wider community through public communications media.

Communications Submittal Process

  • Watchfire Digital Sign:

    • Submit your message using PowerPoint - 1 slide per message - to the C&PR Team.

    • Please allow a minimum of five workdays for framing, approving, and uploading the message. 

  • Weekly Bulletin:

    • Content is due weekly by 3pm Tuesday.

    • 100-word limit per announcement. 

    • Please include name of the event, date, time, location, name and email address for the first point of contact, and the last date to publish the announcement.

  • Social and Web based Media

    • 100-word limit per announcement. 

    • Include name of the event, date, time, location, name and email address for the first point of contact, and the last date to publish the media.

    • Please allow a minimum of five workdays for creating, approving, and uploading the media.
