Hospitality and Safety @ South Shore
Hospitality

"Be hospitable to one another...
like good stewards of the manifold grace of God,
serve one another with whatever gift each of you have received" (First Peter 4:9a, 10).
Persons with visible and hidden disabilities
are welcome and included in the life of our congregation.
We are committed to making requested accommodations
with timeliness and dignity.
Please connect with Pastor Sarah for more information and/or
to share an accommodation request.

Help South Shore UMC Protect and Preserve Public Health
If you are ill, if you are experiencing symptoms of illness,
or if you have been in close proximity
of someone experiencing symptoms of illness,
please stay home, connect with us virtually,
and seek appropriate medical attention.
Ways We Are Prepared to Welcome You
Our facility is single-story. We have accessible restrooms and all our doorways accommodate wheelchairs and/or walking assistance devices.
We have pew chairs and are able to rearrange them so that folks with accommodations have choice as to where they sit with their families in the midst of the congregation.
Any activity that takes place in the Chancel, which is accessible by stairs, can be accommodated for participants at the main-floor level.
We celebrate Holy Communion regularly in worship. At South Shore, we welcome everyone to receive the sacrament from Christ's open Communion Table by:
-
Gluten-Free Communion at the Communion Table
-
Pre-packaged Celebration Communion Cups
-
Bread and Cup service - receiving a piece of bread and then proceeding to dip a small portion of the bread into the Common Cup or moving to receive an individually poured cup of grape juice.
We welcome children of all ages in worship and embrace every sound they make in the worship of God. Additionally, we offer child care and children’s ministry options.
Dress is informal; please come as you are!
We want to call everyone by name and encourage everyone to wear a name tag, which may be obtained and requested in the Welcome Center.
Services start on time; many people arrive early to enjoy fellowship together. Should you arrive after worship begins, you'll find our friendly greeters waiting in the Welcome Center to greet you.
Safety
Safety is a top priority and congregational commitment at South Shore UMC. We believe and encourage
if you see something,
say something to someone that can affect positive change.
While on our campus, if you come across a safety concern or issue,
-
determine if emergency and/or life-safety personnel needs to be contacted, and do so; then,
-
please report it to a staff member, a member of the Safety and Hospitality Team, or
Please include as much of the following in your reporting
-
the date and time,
-
location of concern,
-
description of incident,
-
and contact information for follow up.
Thank you.
