Director of Children's Ministry
Part-Time 15-hours/week
South Shore United Methodist Church seeks our next Director of Children’s Ministry. The Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible for leading the ministry programs for the South Shore United Methodist Church Children (birth through grade 5), and serving as a spiritual leader and role model. The purpose of the Children’s Ministry programs is to lead children, and their families, in understanding the teachings of the Bible and Jesus Christ through comprehensive and age-appropriate activities that encourage them to learn about the community of faith through fun, spiritual growth and Christian fellowship.
This ministry ultimately helps the church fulfill its God-given purpose, “to gather and guide people into a loving, committed relationship with Jesus Christ so we grow the impact of the Kingdom of God.”
Qualifications:
The Director of Children’s Ministry shall: love children and their families where they are, encourage children and their families in developing their relationship to God, and provide them with opportunities to nurture and grow their Christian faith.

Solid understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith, embrace United Methodist doctrine and theology, and a desire to nurture children in their Christian faith.

A high level of energy and excitement, energetic and loving personality with the ability to model Christ in all walks of life.

A bachelor’s degree, or 2 years related experience, in a related field.

A calling to ministry or equivalent passion for children.

Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage, and implement a children’s ministry within the parameters of The United Methodist Church.

Must have excellent skills in written and verbal communication.

Fundamental computer and related technology skills.

Must possess a proven ability to work effectively with children, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers.

Must pass a criminal background check.
