This Week @ South Shore UMC

UPCOMING SSUMC ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL MEETING via ZOOM

Attend SSUMC’s quarterly Administrative Council Meeting on this Tuesday, April 27 at 7:00pm. The presentation will include brief updates from our Operational Leadership Teams and Ministry Area Leaders. The Church Office will email out the Zoom Link Credentials to everyone in the church database Monday, April 26.

JOIN ‘CAFÉ FAITH’ THIS WEDNESDAY via ZOOM

Café Faith is a Wednesday lunchtime study and fellowship opportunity.

Join us as we enjoy our meal, enjoy our fellowship, and enjoy time spent in the Word with God, pairing a time of Bible Study with a book discussion of John C. Maxwell’s book, ‘Change Your World.’ Email Pastor Sarah – sarah@southshoreumc.com – to receive the Zoom Link information.

SSYOUTH BEGIN CONFIRMATION STUDIES THIS SUNDAY

United Methodists use the term ‘confirmation’ to mark the first time a baptized Christian publicly “confirms” their intention to live the vows of the baptismal and membership covenant and so becomes a professing member of the local congregation and The United Methodist Church. Over the next several Sunday evenings – as part of SSUMC’s regular Sunday Evening Gathering – our SSYouth will be learning about Christian Theology as well as United Methodist History, Doctrine, and Polity. At the conclusion of this study, participating students will be asked if they would like to confirm their baptismal vows and affirm the membership covenant before the Church. Pastor Sarah welcomes the SSYouth Parents to attend the teaching portion of Confirmation with their students; she will be available afterwards for conversation with the parents while the students dismiss to small groups. If you have any questions or would like more information, please email Pastor Sarah via sarah@southshoreumc.com or our Youth Director, Andrew Miller, via youth@southshoreumc.com.

SPECIAL REQUESTS FOR MAY AND JUNE REPLENISH RESTORE

In honor of Mother’s Day in May and Father’s Day in June, our friends at Restore asked if we would include basic toiletry items in our monthly donations: men’s and women’s deodorant, body soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Restore Volunteers shared that these personal items often go unpurchased by persons that receive assistance from Restore because of their cost. It would be an incredible gift for SSUMC to stock Restore’s shelves with these items during the early Summer months. Please consider adding these items to your May and June donations.

REMINDER: FIRST SUNDAY FOOD PANTRY NEXT SUNDAY

Please bring donations and place them in the shopping cart in the welcome center.

Your donations support our partnership with Restore Food Pantry at Riverview First UMC and bring relief to hunger experienced by the most vulnerable in our community.

SWEET GRATITUDE

Thank you, Rev. Dave Owsley, for offering your gifts in worship leadership this morning with the SSUMC Family. We are grateful for your preparation and your servant’s heart.

Love, Pastor Sarah
