WELCOME TROOP 606 AND PACK 609 – 2021 SCOUT SUNDAY

Thank you, Scouts for worshipping with South Shore this Sunday. We are grateful for your presence in our church and celebrate all of your achievements this year. Our prayers are with you as you continue serving and leading in our community.

FIRST SUNDAY REPLENISH RESTORE - THIS SUNDAY

Please bring donations and place them in the shopping cart in the Welcome Center.

Your donations support our partnership with Restore Food Pantry at Riverview First UMC and bring relief to hunger experienced by the most vulnerable in our community.

COMMUNION TABLE PARAMENT

White or gold cloths are used on the Communion Table as a sign of a special feast day in the church. White and gold are colors of purity and light. In approaching the Communion Table, we remember that Jesus is the light of the world. At the Communion Table we physically taste the goodness of his grace, represented in the bread and the cup. And we leave the Communion Table carrying his light into the world.

FIRST SUNDAY CELEBRATION OF HOLY COMMUNION

Our worship services this week will include the celebration of Holy Communion. If you are worshipping with South Shore UMC virtually, please set your tables with bread/crackers and juice/water for all present with you to join in the celebration of the sacrament.

COVENANT CELEBRATION SUNDAY – FEBRUARY 14

On February 14, South Shore UMC will celebrate and reaffirm baptismal vows, membership vows, marriage vows, and discipleship vows as part of our worship services.

We look forward to this wonderful time of celebration and hope you will join us!

If you plan to worship with South Shore virtually that day, please have with you at home: a small bowl of water, a candle and candle-lighter, and a cross to hold in your hands.

If you plan to worship with South Shore safely in-person that day, please bring a cross to hold in your hands with you to worship.

Pastor Sarah will lead a six-week Lenten Study based on Rev. Magrey deVega’s series Savior: What The Bible Says About The Cross. The study group will convene twice weekly through Lent:

On Sunday Mornings safely in-person February 21 through March 28 at 9:35am
On Monday Evenings February 22 through March 22 with the Jesus After Dark Small Group [contact Mary Priolo via marypriolocpa@yahoo.com for more information]
On Wednesdays at Noon February 24 through March 24 via ZOOM.

This study explores six different atonement theories – how it is humanity is reconciled to God though we are sinful – presented in Scripture.

Class participants are invited to purchase a copy of Savior, but it is not required. It is available for purchase through Cokesbury and Amazon.

COFFEE WITH THE PASTOR NEXT SUNDAY

‘CAFÉ FAITH’ STUDY THIS WEDNESDAY

Café Faith is a Wednesday lunchtime study and fellowship opportunity. We gather via ZOOM link. Join us as we enjoy our meal, enjoy our fellowship, and enjoy time spent in the Word with God. We return to our leadership study using Weak Enough to Lead by Rev. Dr. James C. Howell. Our guiding text for this week’s discussion is Amos 5.

SERVICE OF ASHES NEXT WEDNESDAY

We will begin the Season of Lent by gathering for worship at our Service of Ashes on Wednesday, February 17 at 6:30pm safely in-person and via broadcast.
