WELCOME REV. RACHEL PAUL HARTMAN
Pastor Rachel begins her appointment year with South Shore UMC July 1. As a way of self-introduction, Pastor Rachel shares:
Hi! I’m Rachel Paul Hartman and I’m going to be serving at South Shore UMC for the next year.
I am a newly commissioned deacon in the Florida Annual Conference and will be serving this appointment as a secondary appointment to my full-time job as a hospital Chaplain at Tampa General. My husband, Trey, and our two dogs (Piper, a lab mix and Beans, a pug) just moved here from Nashville, where I completed my Masters of Divinity studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School. I’m originally from a smaller town south of Atlanta, Georgia and Trey is from Orlando.
We love the warm weather and the new community here. I can’t wait to meet y’all and begin serving together!
COMMUNION TABLE PARAMENT
White or gold cloths are used on the Communion Table as a sign of a special feast day in the church. White and gold are colors of purity and light. In approaching the Communion Table, we remember that Jesus is the light of the world. At the Communion Table we physically taste the goodness of his grace, represented in the bread and the cup. And we leave the Communion Table carrying his light into the world.
SWEETEST GRATITUDE FOR OUR JULY REPLENISH RESTORE FOOD DRIVE
Thank you for your generous donations to SSUMC’s July Food Drive this week.
Our neighbors and fellow servants at Restore – a ministry of Riverview First UMC – are so grateful. With your help, they were able to respond to assistance requests from persons experiencing food insecurities in our community. What a witness of being the Church, even in uncertain times! Thank you, dear friends!
