9/11 PRAYER OF REMEMBRANCE for FIRST RESPONDERS

We remember, God of hope and presence, we remember. We remember the heroes, those who rushed to help, who guided the wounded down innumerable flights of stairs, who rose to overwhelm those who held death in their hands. We remember the hours and the days of binding wounds and healing hurts, giving comfort, drying tears. We remember words of support and compassion from nations far and wide. We remember and give thanks. 

We remember and give thanks for the First Responders serving in our community. 

Guide, protect, and sustain them in service as your hands, heart, and hope. Amen. 

EXTERNALLY FOCUSED IN SERVICE AS A CORR ELEMENTARY READER

We have the opportunity to help ignite the love of reading for Kindergarten and First Grade Students at Corr Elementary by volunteering to serve as a Classroom Guest Reader. We read one Friday of every month, gathering in the Corr Elementary Media Center at 8:15am to select a book to share and begin reading at 8:30am. Sign up to serve in the Welcome Center or by connecting with Rebecca Crotwell. 

All readers are required to complete and submit a HCSB Volunteer Application electronically for approval prior to serving as a Classroom Guest Reader.

UWiF ANNUAL TEA :

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 @ NOON.

On September 21st we will hold our annual UWiF Tea and luncheon from noon to 2pm.

You do not need to be a member of UWiF to participate! We are a group of women who gather to support each other, grow in our faith together and look for ways that we can perform services in our community so we can continue our journey towards being externally focused in service, in order to connect with God’s children at life’s crossroads exactly where they are. We have invited a speaker from PACE Center for Girls and will have musical offerings from youth and Shore Song Members. This is a potluck luncheon so we ask that you bring a dish to share, a $5 faith donation and if able a hygiene product for our speaker to bring back to PACE to restock their cabinets. As always, if you are unable to bring anything but yourself, that is the part we really desire – to be in fellowship with you.
