THIS WEEK @ SOUTH SHORE UMC
SSUMC CELEBRATES ‘NINTH SUNDAY’
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
We are grateful for the gift to worship God and fellowship together. Thank you to our Sanctuary Choir and Shore Song Modern Band for leading us in praise this morning. May God be pleased with the fruits have been borne through God’s Spirit in the present quarter and lead us as we commit to what fruits we will bear for God in the coming quarter.
Please be sure to “clear your dishes” before leaving our fellowship time today! Thank you!
TODAY IS COMMITMENT SUNDAY
Today we celebrate our congregation’s commitments to invest in God’s ministry together in 2024. Please bring your 2024 estimate of giving commitment card forward with you during Communion to present before the altar. If you are in need of an estimate of giving commitment card, please check in at the Welcome Center. May God add special blessing on this next step of faith as we are internally strong in faith and externally focused in service.
INVITED TO INVEST PRAYER FOCI:
WEEK OF NOVEMBER 26
Thank you for growing internally strong in faith this month by joining in prayer with our faith community.
Nov 26 – How will you invest in claiming God’s future together with SSUMC?
Nov 27 – For expanding and deepening personal faith.
Nov 28 – For strengthening SSUMC’s external focus.
Nov 29 – For Jesus' faithful guidance in our ongoing response to his invitations.
Nov 30 – Celebrating that with God, all things are possible!
SSUMC STAFF APPRECIATION
AND CHRISTMAS CHEER
Please take a moment to share messages of appreciation with our dedicated SSUMC Staff during the holiday season. Cards are available in the Welcome Center, and once completed, may be placed in the lay staff members Christmas boxes.
We will also receive a love offering for lay staff members through December 17 that they will receive before Christmas; please indicate ‘staff appreciation’ on your gift.
LITURGICAL COLOR: PURPLE
The paraments – the cloths on the cross and pulpit – are now purple signifying we are in the Season of Advent. The Season of Advent begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas. This is a season of great anticipation as we prepare for the coming of Christ.
NAMES FOR THE MESSIAH 4wk ADVENT STUDY BEGINS THIS WEDNESDAY
A four-week Advent study will be offered to help us deepen our understanding of the names given for our Messiah in Isaiah’s prophecy.
Pastor Sarah will offer this study midweek at noon during Café Faith beginning November 29. Participants are encouraged to obtain a personal copy of the book Names for The Messiah by Rev. Dr. Walter Brueggemann and read the first chapter prior to the first gathering.
Register to attend a class in the Welcome Center today or by emailing email@example.com.
