Why do I have to get up and go to Church on my day off? Can't I just pray and read about Jesus under my duvet? It's amazing to think that 2000 years of the existence of the church and we are still discovering what it means. With the rising number of people leaving organized religion it is easy to think that people just aren't interested in God or the divine. In many cases we begin to think that morality has become vague and relative. While it is true that "church" culture does not hold the same weight in the post modern world as it did 50 years ago, I do not think it is because of a lack of interest in the divine or in a loosening of morality. In truth there is evidence that more people are seeking the mysteries of the universe as well as looking for a moral standard to rise above.
What I think has happened is that the church has forgotten who she is and to whom she belongs. Over the next three weeks we are going to look at the Nature, Mission, and Life of the church. I hope you will join me in prayer and in fellowship over the next few weeks as we discover the life the Holy Spirit is waiting to pour out on us.
